The International Press Corps (IPC) in Model United Nations (MUN) is a specialized committee that simulates the role of journalists and media professionals covering the proceedings of the conference. The IPC aims to provide a unique perspective by representing the press and reporting on the events and discussions happening within the MUN conference.
The primary objective of the IPC is to promote media literacy, critical thinking, and effective communication skills among participants. IPC delegates learn to analyze complex issues, gather information, and present it in a coherent and objective manner. They play a crucial role in disseminating information, fostering transparency, and holding delegates accountable for their positions and actions.
At Sunmarke MUN 2023, we wanted to take a different approach at IPC. Instead of focusing on written reports from the delegates, we will be giving the delegates the opportunity to use the school's high tech media equipment to create short news reports on the various topics being discussed at the MUN conference. This committee will be a hands on experience with filming equipment and post-production software. Our aim is to foster a creative perspective at the media reports produced by the delegates.Â
