Introduction
The Korean Health Economics Research Group (K-HERG) is an academic network that connects Korean researchers specializing in health economics and health policy. Established in 2022, K-HERG has provided a vibrant platform for intellectual exchange, collaborative research, and professional networking among scholars based in South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other regions.
Mission and Purpose
K-HERG was founded to foster dialogue and collaboration among Korean scholars with shared interests in health economics and health policy. Its mission is to:
Advance high-quality research and promote scholarly exchange across borders.
Provide a forum for researchers to present their work and receive constructive feedback.
Strengthen methodological expertise through workshops on research design, data analysis, and applied policy evaluation.
Support the professional growth of early-career scholars by offering mentorship and career guidance.
Online Monthly Meetings [link]
From September 2025 to May 2026, meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month 10:00–11:00 AM (Eastern Time) and 11:00 PM–12:00 AM (Korea Standard Time).
In-Person Gathering
In June 2026, K-HERG will convene its in-person meeting (tentatively, Dinner on Sunday, May 31) during the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (ARM) in Seattle, USA, from May 30 to June 2, 2026. This event will provide members with valuable opportunities to strengthen professional relationships, initiate collaborative projects, and enhance the network’s visibility within the global health economics community.
Looking Ahead
By fostering connections among Korean researchers worldwide, K-HERG aims to build a sustainable and inclusive community that advances knowledge in health economics and informs better health policy decisions. The group warmly welcomes both established scholars and emerging researchers to engage in its activities, share their expertise, and contribute to shaping the future of health economics research.
