The Sundre Skating Club has been part of the community since 1987, helping skaters of all ages discover the joy of being on the ice. Over the years we have welcomed both large and small groups of skaters and we are always eager to see new faces who are excited to learn and grow in the sport of skating.
From first steps on the ice to developing advanced skills our programs provide a safe and supportive environment for learning. We believe skating builds more than just technique as it fosters confidence, perseverance and friendships that last a lifetime.
PreCanSkate
Pre-CanSkate is a fun, introductory program created for young children who are stepping onto the ice for the very first time. There is no set minimum age requirement; however, participants must be potty trained to join.
CanSkate
CanSkate is Canada’s top learn-to-skate program and the best place to start for beginners of all ages, including children, adults, and athletes with disabilities. Whether your goal is figure skating, hockey, ringette, or speed skating; CanSkate focuses on building balance, control, and agility while keeping lessons fun and engaging. Our nationally tested curriculum ensures skaters gain the skills they need in a safe and positive environment.
PreStarSkate
Pre-Star is designed for skaters who have completed CanSkate and are interested in specializing in figure skating. This program bridges the gap between CanSkate and StarSkate, introducing more advanced figure skating skills and preparing skaters for the next level of training.
StarSkate
The StarSkate program is designed for skaters who want to further develop their figure skating skills after completing CanSkate Stage 6 or equivalent. Skaters will be introduced to multiple figure skating disciplines including ice dance, freestyle, and advanced fundamental skills.
Adult Skating Skills *NEW 2025*
We’re excited to introduce a dedicated hour for adult skaters who want to build confidence and improve their skating abilities. Each session includes a 15-minute group lesson led by a coach, focusing on both fundamental and advanced skating skills. As this is our first season offering this program, the specific disciplines taught will be shaped by the interests of the group. Ice time is included with registration, while group lessons are billed separately by coaches at $5 per skater, per lesson.
All of our coaches are certified through Skate Canada, the oldest and largest figure skating organization in the world. Skate Canada governs the sport of figure skating in Canada, setting national rules and standards while promoting growth and development at every level.
