Major Working Areas
Landscape Evolution and Tectonic Geomorphology
River Dynamics: Hydrology and Sediment transport
Geohazards: Floods and Landslides
Sumit's primary research areas encompass the following:
Landscape Evolution: Investigating the impact of tectonics, lithology, and rainfall on landscape evolution through digital morphometry and field data analysis.
River Dynamics: Analyzing discharge, sediment load, and erosional regimes in large river systems, including the factors that control these processes.
Geohazards: Studying flood geomorphology, landslide mechanics, and conducting hazard mapping to understand and mitigate natural hazards.

The Geohazards Group
Sumit is a member of "The Geohazards Group", a prominent research team at Charles University in the Czech Republic . "The Geohazards Group" is established by Dr. Gianvito Scaringi (Assistant Prof., Institute of Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology and Applied Geophysics, Charles University). The Geohazards Group is dedicated to investigating landslide mechanics in the context of climate change, contributing to vital research that addresses global environmental challenges.
