With a strong research background in biomaterials and tissue engineering, I embarked on my academic journey by pursuing a PhD in Stimuli-Responsive Smart Biomaterials in the Division of Restorative Dental Materials and Applied Oral Sciences at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). As a recipient of the prestigious Research Postgraduate Scholarship at the Faculty of Dentistry, HKU, I have had the privilege of working under the mentorship of Dr. Prasanna Neelakantan (Assistant Dean of Research) and Dr. Will Wei Qiao at the Faculty of Dentistry, HKU.
My research focuses on the development of smart biomaterial platforms for tissue engineering and drug delivery purposes to address critical challenges in skin and soft tissue healing. By leveraging immunomodulation and neuro-immune axis tunning, I aim to design innovative therapeutic solutions that promote tissue regeneration while combating microbial infections. During my PhD, I specialized in designing and characterizing stimuli-responsive biomaterials capable of eradicating deep tissue infections, modulating host immunity, and regulating the neuro-immune axis. My work also explored strategies to drive host adaptive immunity and inhibit spontaneous pain using advanced biomaterials.
Combining my expertise in synthetic material chemistry with hands-on experience in microbial infection models, I strive to bridge the gap between material science and biomedical applications. Through all these platforms, I aim to share my research journey, insights, and contributions to the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering, while fostering collaboration and innovation in this rapidly evolving domain.
