What is Sullivan Food Cupboard?
Sullivan Food Cupboard is a client choice food cupboard, meaning our clients are able to choose from a variety of food items that meet their family's needs and preferences. The amount of food that a family receives from us is based on the number of people in their household, and we follow guidelines from the Food Bank of CNY.
What types of foods are available?
Sullivan Food Cupboard has many types of food items available on a consistent basis. There may be other food items available at different times, depending on donations from the community, and seasonal availability. The following food categories are consistently available:
Meats
Canned Fruits and Vegetables
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables (in season)
Cereal
Pasta
Rice
Canned Tuna
Canned Chicken
Cheese
How do I sign up?
Families complete an intake form to determine eligibility. Proof of current Town of Sullivan or Chittenango School District address is required at each visit. We are affiliated with the Food Bank of Central New York, and therefore have specific guidelines and requirements that we must follow.
How often can I get food from Sullivan Food Cupboard?
Families can come in to get food one time per month during our regular business hours (listed at the bottom of the page). As Sullivan Food Cupboard is an emergency food pantry, it is not intended to be a family's only source of food. If an individual or family is unable to physically come in to get their food, they may identify a proxy to do that for them. This must be done in advance when filling out the intake paperwork. In some cases, delivery can be arranged for those not having transportation or a proxy person available.
We encourage people to bring their own bags or boxes to carry their food home. (We have a limited supply available)
What if I have a food emergency and need food after hours?
If you have a food emergency, please call the Sullivan Food Cupboard and instructions will be given on the recording.
