"ALL THIS IS A DREAM. Still examine it by a few experiments. Nothing is too wonderful to be true, if it be consistent with the laws of nature; and in such things as these, experiment is the best test of such consistency"- Michael Faraday
"The interface is the device"- Herbert Kroemer [2000 Nobel Prize in Physics]
WELCOME TO OUR GROUP HOMEPAGE
About Me
I am Sukanta Nandi, Assistant Professor (ECE & CQT), Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi), New Delhi. Before this, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Engineering and the Institute of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, Bar-Ilan University, Ramat-Gan, Israel. I completed my Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India.
My research lies at the intersection of materials science, computational modeling, and experimental nanophotonics. I am particularly interested in understanding and engineering light-matter interactions.
My current work focuses on:
Quantum Nanophotonics
Optical Metasurfaces
Optoelectronics
Optoeletrochemical Devices
Scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscopy (s-SNOM)
News
Sherep joined the Light Matters group in May 2026 as a PhD student (the first PhD student of our group).
A warm welcome! to her
June 2026: Our paper titled- Engineering Angular Dispersion via Hybrid Local–Nonlocal Metasurfaces, has been accepted for publication in Nanophotonics.
[DOI: 10.1002/nap2.70169]
Students holding valid national fellowships (UGC/CSIR/INSPIRE JRF, etc.) are encouraged to apply for PhD positions throughout the year.
Researchers with NPDF or equivalent fellowships are also welcome to apply for postdoctoral positions.
