Historical Markers

Our Historical marker program reflects the deeply folkloric nature of our hamlet's old culture.
Starting with our independently crowdfunded "Sugar Loaf Mountain" marker, which honors the hamlet's indigenous peoples' values and origins, we have worked hard to ensure a structured and colorful system of marker commemoration.
Next, SLHS embarked upon honoring our hamlet's rich folklore. By working with the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, SLHS had 4 Pomeroy Foundation "Legends and Lore" marker grants approved and cast in aluminum in a 2 year period from 2023, a record for any historical society in the entire US.
