“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
My name is Angelic Rodriguez Gonzalez, not Cilegna or Selena lol. Contrary to what many people think, I am in fact Mexican with roots stemming from Jalisco, Guanajuato, and Michoacan and I take great pride in my culture and identity as Mexican which inspired the establishment of my business, Sueno Mexicano Ink.
I was born and raised in Hemet, located in Riverside County, and moved to Santa Barbara after graduating high school in 2018. I attended UCSB from 2018-2021 as a pre-bio major, but it turns out I wasn't cut out for it and the Zoom classes due to the pandemic made it worse. I switched to Sociology at the end of my second year and dropped out soon after.
During the two years after dropping out, I worked retail full-time. In the summer of 2021 I learned how to tattoo from my friend and tattoo artist, Victoria, and instantly fell in love with it. I've always loved art throughout my childhood and in high school, but never imagined the possibilities of making a career out of it until tattooing came along. I continued to practice on friends and coworkers who were willing. I moved back home for a short period of time where I worked at a tattoo shop in Temecula under my mentor, Mike, and I continued to learn more about the art of tattooing.
Eventually I moved back to IV during the summer of 2023 when I decided to go back to school and finish my last year at UCSB and I recently graduated with my Bachelors in Sociology as Class of 2024!! (:
I love connecting with my clients during our sessions and I tend to yap a lot if given the opportunity. I love sharing stories and life experiences, sharing advice, discourse over conspiracy theories and I could talk forever about spirituality, energy, meaning of life, etc. I have a dog, Chomper, who lives back home, but I would love to bring him to SB soon :( I also have a cat, Pebbles, who is the biggets menace to ever live and the studio has a pet fish. I tend to hyper fixate on hobbies every now and then; currently I love plants and all things pink and strawberries which you will see is evident in the studio. I am also currently expecting a little strawberry baby myself and am super excited to start this chapter of my life and learning to navigate motherhood while maintaining other aspects of myself.
