Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
1. What is Subzly?
Subzly is a personal subscription tracker for iOS. You manually add your subscriptions — streaming services, software, memberships, and anything else you pay for — and Subzly helps you keep track of costs, renewal dates, and upcoming payments. All data is stored on your device.
2. How do I add a subscription?
Tap the + button on the Subscriptions tab. You can enter the name, price, billing cycle (weekly, monthly, yearly, or free trial), start date (billing / renewal date), and set a reminder. You can also assign a category and choose a logo from the brand catalog, SF Symbols, or a custom letter.
3. What can I track with Subzly?
Subzly lets you track your subscriptions, recurring expenses, billing cycles, and upcoming renewal dates. Income tracking is not currently supported.
Data & Privacy
4. Where is my data stored?
All subscription records, preferences, and your profile photo are stored locally on your device. Subzly does not upload your data to any external server.
5. What happens if I delete the app?
If you delete Subzly, all data stored locally on your device — subscription records, app preferences, and your profile photo — will also be deleted. Subzly does not currently offer in-app iCloud sync or manual backup.
Note: If iCloud Device Backup is enabled in your iOS Settings, iOS may include the app's local data in your encrypted iCloud device backup. This is managed entirely by iOS — Subzly cannot access or control your iCloud backups.
6. Does Subzly track me or share my data?
No. Subzly does not:
- Track you across apps or websites
- Collect advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- Use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
- Send your subscription list, reminder data, or personal information to any server
The only exception: subscription purchase status is verified through Apple and RevenueCat to determine whether Subzly Pro is active.
Subzly is a local-first, privacy-focused app. For full details, see the Privacy Policy.
7. How do I delete all my data?
Go to Settings → Clear All Data. This permanently deletes all subscription records, resets all preferences, removes your profile photo, and resets the onboarding flow. This action cannot be undone.
Subzly Pro
8. What's included in the free plan?
Free users can use Subzly with:
- Up to 2 stored subscriptions
- Add, edit, delete, and manually pause subscriptions
- Local reminders for your active subscriptions (when notifications are enabled in the app and in iOS Settings)
- Full Analytics view — weekly, monthly, and yearly spending summaries with charts (expenses only)
You can use the free plan indefinitely within these limits.
9. What do I get with Subzly Pro?
Pro subscribers unlock:
- Unlimited subscriptions — no cap on how many you can store
- Reminders for all active subscriptions (not limited to 2)
- Full access to all app features as your library grows
- Categories, brand logos, SF Symbols, and custom letter badges (same tools as the free plan, without the subscription limit)
- Early access to new premium features
Note: Analytics is available on the free plan too. Pro removes the 2-subscription limit so you can track and get reminders for your full list.
10. I upgraded to Pro but premium features are still locked.
Try the following:
- Open the Subzly Pro paywall (via Settings or the upgrade prompt) and tap Restore Purchases
- Or go to Settings → Purchases → Restore Purchases
- Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used to purchase
If the issue continues, contact us at madebykd.app@gmail.com.
11. I got a new iPhone — do I need to buy Pro again?
No. Your Subzly Pro subscription is tied to your Apple ID, not your device. Install Subzly on your new device, then tap Restore Purchases on the paywall to reactivate Pro.
Note: Restore Purchases brings back your Pro access only. Subzly does not sync your tracked subscription records across devices, so any subscriptions you previously added will not appear on the new device unless restored from your encrypted iOS device backup.
12. Can I share my Pro subscription with family members?
No. Subzly Pro does not support Family Sharing. Pro access is tied to the purchasing Apple ID only.
13. How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Subzly and cancel from there. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro access until then. The developer cannot cancel or modify subscriptions directly; all billing is managed by Apple.
14. Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. The developer does not process refunds directly.
Notifications & Reminders
15. How do reminders work?
When you add or edit a subscription and enable a reminder, Subzly schedules a local notification directly on your device. No server is involved — reminders are triggered by your device based on the payment date you set.
16. My reminders are not showing up.
Check the following:
1. Go to iOS Settings → Notifications → Subzly
2. Make sure Allow Notifications is turned on
3. Ensure Alerts are enabled
4. Reminders are scheduled as standard local notifications. Time Sensitive Notifications are not required but may help on some devices.
Also check that notifications are enabled within the Subzly Settings tab.
17. Subzly is asking me to enable notifications in iOS Settings.
If you previously denied notification permission, the app cannot re-request it automatically. Tap the prompt in the app to be taken directly to Subzly's notification settings in iOS, where you can enable them.
Analytics
18. How does the Analytics view work?
The Analytics view calculates weekly, monthly, and yearly spending summaries from the subscription records stored on your device. All calculations happen locally — no data is sent to any external service.
Analytics is available on both the free and Pro plans. Totals reflect scheduled expense charges in the current calendar week, month, or year.
Analytics includes scheduled expense charges only. Income tracking is not available in the app.
If you set a subscription start date when adding or editing, charges are not counted before that date. Paused subscriptions (including those paused automatically when your Pro subscription ends) are excluded from Analytics.
19. The totals in Analytics don't look right.
Make sure that:
- The billing cycle for each subscription is set correctly (weekly / monthly / yearly)
- The subscription start date is correct if you entered one (nothing before that date is counted)
- Paused subscriptions are not expected in the total (only active subscriptions count)
If something still looks off, contact us at madebykd.app@gmail.com.
Free Trial Tracking
20. How does free trial tracking work?
When you add a subscription as a free trial, you can set a trial end date. You can choose how far in advance you are reminded (days and hours before the trial ends). The reminder is a one-time local notification. Once the trial end date passes, the subscription is automatically marked as inactive.
Other
21. Can I change the app language or currency?
Yes. Go to Settings within Subzly to change your preferred language (English, Spanish, or French) and currency. The app also detects your device language and locale on first launch.
22. What happens to my data when my Pro subscription expires?
All your existing subscription records remain on your device — you will not lose any data. However:
- If you have more than 2 stored subscriptions, Subzly keeps your two oldest eligible subscriptions active and pauses the rest. Paused subscriptions no longer send reminders.
- You cannot add new subscriptions while your total stored count is already above 2.
- Paused subscriptions due to the free plan limit cannot be edited until you resubscribe to Pro (you can still delete them).
- Reminders continue only for subscriptions that remain active (up to 2) and still have reminders turned on.
- You can continue using the app as a free user within free plan limits, including Analytics and reminders for your active subscriptions.
23. Why are some subscriptions paused after my Pro subscription ended?
If you had more than 2 subscriptions and your Pro subscription ends, Subzly automatically pauses subscriptions over the free limit (keeping your two oldest eligible entries active). Paused items appear under the Paused tab. Upgrade to Pro to reactivate and edit them, or delete subscriptions you no longer need.
Troubleshooting
Notifications are not working
Go to iOS Settings → Notifications → Subzly and make sure Allow Notifications and Alerts are both enabled. Also check that notifications are turned on in the Subzly Settings tab.
I can't add more subscriptions
You may have reached the free plan limit of 2 stored subscriptions (active and paused combined). Delete a subscription, or upgrade to Subzly Pro for unlimited tracking.
Restore Purchases is not working
Make sure you have an active internet connection and are signed into the correct Apple ID. If the issue persists, contact us at madebykd.app@gmail.com.
The app is not responding correctly after an iOS update
Try force-closing the app and reopening it. If the issue persists, contact us with your iOS version and device model.
