This semester, I am teaching Modern Physics (PY213) for III semester Integrated MSc Physics students and the second half of Advanced Quantum Mechanics (PY802) for PhD students.
This is a 3-credit course for third-semester Integrated MSc (Physics) students.
Course code: PY213
Number of hours: 32 lectures, 10 tutorials
Schedule: Tuesday (4 PM - 5 PM), Wednesday (10 AM - 11 AM), Thursday (11 AM - 12 PM)
Venue: Room No. 103 (Annexe Building, CIS)
Course Related Notes and Assignments: Link (The file will be updated periodically)
Updates:
1. First minor exam will be on August 11th, at 4:00 PM.
2. Office hours: Tuesdays, 3 PM - 4 PM. I will be sitting in classroom 103. You can drop by to ask any questions you may have, particularly any small things that you did not understand in the class. You do not need to have a fully formed question before coming. It is perfectly fine simply to say which part of the course you are finding difficult.
3. Assignment-1 is uploaded to the course Google Drive folder. It is due on August 11th. There will be a quiz based on it on August 13th.
Watch out for more updates on assignments, quizzes, etc.
Primary reference: Concepts of Modern Physics, Arthur Beiser, Shobit Mahajan, and S. Rai Choudhury, 7th edition, McGraw-Hill (2017).
This is a 4-credit course for PhD students that covers advanced topics in quantum mechanics. I will be teaching the second half of this course, which involves relativistic quantum mechanics, quantum theory of radiation, and basic quantum field theory. The first half of this course will be taught by Dr. Ramachandrarao Yalla.
