I am involved in teaching and research at the K Banerjee Department of Atmospheric and Ocean Studies of the University of Allahabad. Broad areas of my research are land-atmosphere interactions, variability and predictability of the Indian monsoon, severe convective systems and climate modelling that involves high-performance computing and diagnostic evaluation of model data and observations. One of my prime research objectives is to improve dynamical prediction on the short, sub-seasonal (~3-4 weeks) to seasonal (~3-4 months) time scales which is crucial for the agricultural and hydrological sectors.
I have been teaching the following courses since 2017: Introduction to Atmospheric Science, Dynamic Meteorology, Monsoon Meteorology, Land-atmosphere interactions, General Circulation of Atmosphere and Ocean and Numerical Weather Prediction of the M.Tech. Earth System Sciences course in our department. I am involved in developing the departmental laboratory and designing/modification of the course structure, introducing new platforms for teacher-student-researcher interactions.
