CAPE TOWN HOUSES CAPE DUTCH

Cape Town architects are proud of the style that originated here over 300years ago during the early days of the establishment of the city. The architecture style of the houses is marked by a curvaceous central gable, thatch roof, sliding sash windows and white walls.

WEBERSBERG

A bold baroque style Cape Dutch manor house set on a small hillock, and laid out in a clear h-shaped formation. The windows are side hung and have green painted timber shutters. Go to ARCHITECTCAPETOWN for other stunning photos of dream homes in both the traditional and modernized versions.

Another manor home in a spectacular setting at the foot of the Groot Drakenstein mountains. The delicately crafted gable and softly arched sliding sash cottage pane windows create a feminine touch to this illustrious heritage site. BLETTERMANHUIS

This is a gem of an H-shaped house located in the historical core of the town of Stellenbosch. See ARCHITECTCAPETOWN for more on Cape Town examples. With only two windows either side of the front door, the house is compact, and its gables all in view as one approaches it. The side gables are simpler than the more frilly main gable, and are all well proportioned. Go to GLOSSY-MAGAZINE for more photos if you enjoyed this one.
