When things are really stuck and there seems to be no way forward in a dispute, mediation can provide a way forward. It gives you the opportunity to sit down together somewhere comfortable and neutral with an impartial third party to try to talk things through. Mediation is suitable at any point in a dispute and is invaluable in helping in many difficult circumstances. It involves sitting with the parties involved in a dispute and helping them reach a solution to the problem they face.
A key part of the process is that it allows the parties themselves to decide and control the outcome. My role as your mediator is to act as an independent and neutral third party to help manage and guide the discussions that help both parties to reach their joint and final decision.
Another key feature of the mediation process is that it is confidential and voluntary. Mediation is commonly used to help avoid the need for going to court. However, it can also be used for ‘non-legal’ disputes where two people in dispute decide to instruct the professional help of a third party to reach a joint decision on how to move forward.
