The interactions include the impact of humans on the environment, coexistence, magnets and their characteristics and forces.
Energy includes the energy in food, light and shade, heat and temperature, types of energy, and applications.
Compared to the standard PSLE Science, PSLE Foundation Science has a lower level of difficulty and a smaller curriculum, allowing students to build a strong foundation in science with sufficient resources. This method prepares students for future high-level science instruction.
Understanding the PSLE Science Exam Format
PSLE standard Science exam format
To fully prepare, students must become familiar with the format of the PSLE exam as well as the curriculum. The PSLE Science exam consists of open-ended and multiple-choice questions designed to test understanding, knowledge, and application of the science curriculum. Booklet A and Booklet B will be distributed to students. The exam takes 1 hour and 45 minutes and has a total score of 100.
Booklet A has 28 multiple-choice questions, each worth two points. These questions have four possible solutions. The overall score for this session is 56, with a weight of 56%.
Booklet B has 12 to 13 open questions, each worth 2 to 5 points, for a total of 44 points. It is a combination of short and long answers, weighing 44%.
PSLE foundation Science test format
The PSLE Foundation Science exam has a total score of 70 and takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. Although there are three components to the PSLE Foundation Science exam, there is only one exam. They are the following:
Booklet A has 18 multiple-choice questions, each with three possible answers. Each multiple-choice question is worth two points, for a total of 36 points, with a total weightage of 51.4%.
Booklet B is divided into two halves, the first organised and the second unstructured. There are 6-7 structured questions, each worth 2-3 points, for 14 points with a weightage of 20%. Structured questions can be of the "match" or "fill in the gaps" variety. There are 5-6 open questions, each earning 2-4 points. Open questions are worth 20 points and weigh 28.6%.
