My flight was pretty smooth. I did not sleep on the flight and did not have jet lag as a result. I went to bed around 9 or 10pm when I got to my apartment and woke up around 6am which was normal for me. I spent about a week and a half going through orientation, submitting any important documents and getting used to the very small campus. I thankfully did not have too much trouble with eating but quickly learned that I have an intolerance to Japanese salt. I had to buy pink salt to keep in my kitchen and avoided any fast food that might be heavily salted. Other than that, I got to know the apartment managers and Resident Assistants that lived in the building. I was glad once classes started since I do the best mentally and physically when on a consistent routine.
My flight was about 18 hours, with 4 of those hours being from a layover. I unfortunately had pretty bad anxiety and dissociated for majority of my trip to cope.
This was my room within my apartment that consisted of a bed and desk with chair. I took this picture while in the middle of putting my things up and putting my bed together.
This was the back half of my apartment that had my mini fridge, sink, portable stove, washer, and bathroom.
This salmon and mayo rice ball was the first and only thing I ate the first 15 hours I was in Japan. Since my chronic illness has to do with my stomach, this is pretty normal for me. I made sure to drink a lot of water when I was not eating.
