These should be done at school, but may be done outside of class.
Please edit and upload with only basic adjustments.
Take a lot of photos; at least 30 different photographs for each Photography Challenge - just to make sure you got it just right.
If it is out of focus, do it again!
WORK THE SCENE!
Post your favorite shots to your blog (could be just one) but make sure to include your contact sheets for every Photography Challenge!
Title your blog post "Challenge: Name of challenge you chose"
BEGINNING CHALLENGES
Revision - Have you "finished" a project, but are unhappy with some part of it? Did a peer or Ms. Sokolowski give you some constructive feedback? This is your chance to re-shoot or re-work a past assignment. Many artists continue to work on a project for years, don't let something like a due date get in the way of your vision.
Framing- Let's go back to one of the basic composition types - framing. Use a doorway, an archway, trees, buildings, etc. to frame a subject. Make your subject and your composition interesting.
Leading Lines - Use lines to draw your eye to the subject.
Shadows - We all have them. They follow us everywhere. Some people are afraid of them. For this photo challenge, creatively take a picture of a single or many shadows!
Light - Light can be a noun, a verb, or an adjective. How do you want to represent light? Do not point your camera at the sun!
Pretty Ugly or Pretty Creepy - We’ve all seen it:——something that is considered “ugly” or “creepy” is actually quite beautiful when you look at it the right way. For this challenge look for beauty in unexpected places, or objects that give you goose bumps ‘cause they “creep you out”. Destruction that is scary, ugly, or creepy. Do not take pictures of people for this. Do NOT be cruel or offensive.
Evidence - Take a photograph that provides us some sort of evidence that something has occurred. What evidence was left behind?
How Low Can You Go? - Is it a height thing? Or maybe something else? You decide, how low will you go?
Hot! - Hot can mean any number of things. What does it mean to you?
Communication - Communication is an essential part of our every day lives. This challenge has you photograph some element of communication - technological, old-school, or traditional. See if you can take it to the next level..
Hands or Feet - Create a portrait without including your subject's face? This challenge has you focus on someone's hands or feet. What can you tell about a person? What emotions can you evoke? Use the studio, do it outside, you decide!
Blue - Blue can take on different forms. What is blue to you?
Signs of Our Humanity - What are some signs of our humanity? Take some pictures of them.
Selective Focus (must use a NEW image) - This is a technique that can generate some amazing results. What will you focus on?
Smell - It could be good or bad…take a picture of something that reminds you of a specific smell.
Seen from a Window - What do you use your window for? Light? Fresh Air? To people watch or day dream? There are many things that can be seen from a window. Photograph some of them.
Caught in the Act! - Take a candid picture of someone or something while they are being caught in the act
Letter Art - Similar to finding shapes in the clouds, you will look for letters in nature, architecture or objects. Use these letters to spell your name, a word, or a phrase.
Two Dozen - Pick a location. Stand in one spot and make 24 unique photographs while standing in the same place. You cannot move your feet.
Portable Subject - Carry a subject with you and put it in the frame no matter where you are shooting.
Then and Now - Find a picture from your childhood and recreate it or choose a famous piece of artwork and recreate it.
TAKE IT FURTHER!
Reflections - Look for them in mirrors, windows, water, etc.
Abstractions - Make something recognizable unrecognizable. Focus on the formal elements of art.
Rule of ODDs - Look for multiples in your subject matter but go for odd numbered subjects only. Is there one puppy? Nope. Are there 2 puppies? Forget it. Are there 3, 5, or 7 puppies? Go for it.
