Studio photography wasn't always a strong area of photography for me. It was scary and I felt quite intimidated at first (totally normal by the way). It took a lot of work and practice to figure out exactly how to do it (the size flooring and backdrops I liked, the lens that worked best for my space, how to use studio lights and how to utilize my natural indoor light). And finally, I learned how to edit my studio photos to get the exact look I was trying to achieve.

Now, I LOVE studio photography! I can offer my clients so many different themes and so much variety, even in a single session. The options are endless and it's so fun to bring my imagination to life. So whether my client wants to keep it simple and sweet or kick it up a notch with something more elaborate, I can find something for everyone when offering studio photography!

Below, I will show you how I edit my studio photos in Lightroom. You may find that your workflow is slightly different, but I have found this works best for me and the look I try to achieve. Give it a try!

Once that is done, I apply a preset. Not every preset looks good on every photo. Your preset choice will depend on your subject, lighting and the look you are trying to achieve among other things. The preset that was used on this photo was Crystal Springs from Pretty Presets Clean & Colorful Collection.

Next, I move on to temperature and vibrance. The Crystal Springs preset ALWAYS brings out an orange tone. The temperature of my photos is usually around 5000 after I apply the preset. I like to increase the temperature to around 5500 and also increase the vibrance. These adjustments will make the photo even MORE orange, but I will correct for that in the next step!

Once I have the color corrected, I move onto the "EFFECTS" section of Lightroom. The only sliders that I play around with here are clarity and dehaze. I usually just make some small adjustments, generally keeping the sliders around 15 for Clarity and 5 for Dehaze. I think it gives my photos just a little extra "OOMF."

I absolutely LOVE photographing kids. What I've found to be super helpful when taking photos of children is to find a themed photo shoot idea that gets the kids excited while at the same time allows them to be themselves and have fun!

I joined several photography communities on Facebook like the Pretty Presets group, read lots of blog articles and taught myself. After a while, I began having more confidence and saw where this journey could take which made me push myself even more.

Hi! I'm Brittany, a portrait photographer and preschool teacher, wife to my husband Jonathan and a mama to a beautiful little 5 year old girl, and a handsome little 3 year old boy. They are my HEART and my motivation for everything that I do! Come visit me at My Heart Photography.

While photographers and videographers both fall under the umbrella of professionals Apple is targeting with its Mac Studio, what photographers and videographers need in a computer can vary quite a bit. While photographers needs tend to top out with editing large Raw files or extensive composites, videographers could potentially need to process ProRes Raw or even 8K video. And, of course, there are those who dabble in both stills and video. So, to simplify your prospects, we've broken this article down into three categories: Photographers, Hybrid Shooters and Videographers.

Even when ingesting, sorting, culling and processing thousands of Raw photos, my Mac Mini doesn't struggle to keep up, especially since both Adobe and Capture One have optimized all of their photo software for Apple's M1 chipsets to make the most of hardware acceleration.

What do you all do for storage on the mini and studio? I have my photos and Lightroom library on a 2TB NMVe drive on my PC, and the OS and apps on a separate NVMe drive. Do you folks use external NVMe drives with TB enclosures or do you pay to have more internal storage?

it has 4 firewire ports if not mistaken, you can easily buy an external nvme storage for cheap and use it to store your images if NAS is not an option and you need speed. With external nvme enclosures you can reach over 1.5MB of read/write speeds, you can edit from those drives, (photo and video). I would still go for a config that has at least 1TB of storage, but woudnt add more.

Judging from working with my macbook pro m1 max, the standard Studio will be ample for many years of smooth photo editing. I also did some 4k video editing and that went smoothly as well. If looks to me that the Ultra will only make a tangible difference when working on big, complex video projects or for complex 3d modelling or maybe some scientific programming.

It does not look like apples intending to bring out the New 27" iMac anymore

I hope I'm wrong. If they do not intend to I hope they bring out a 24 inch iMac M1 Pro

That comes standard with 32GB ram

I'll keep my fingers crossed bring out such a computer for the Advanced amateur photographer & videographer that needs more power than the standard M1 chip

Provides.

For us Canadians the new Mac studio base model starts at $2500.00 Canadian +15% taxes.

Then you still have to buy a mouse and keyboard and Quality Monitor

Which is an extra cost no less than $1500 extra and possibly even more

Then you would've spent buying all in one system with everything included.

While it makes sense for Apple to cater to video creators and photographers, it's probably much more profitable for Nvidia to aim for 3D users (gamers, miners, etc) as it's a much larger market. Same for AMD as they have seemingly cornered the console market.

I decided to go with 64GB, but largely as it gave me the headroom to run some VMs and potentially retire a Linux box I have. If you know your workloads, I'd guess that 32GB would be fine for most photo-oriented tasks, although maybe stitching large panos or heavy-duty focus stacking might push it.

@photo_rb: Since the unibody design (I believe it was the fourth generation that came out in 2018), all Mac Mini models (including Intel) were only available with SSDs. If you do have an older one with a HDD though, the SSD will definitely improve boot times. I remember it making my boot times about four times faster on my old 2010 iMac when I made the switch.

But back to wcan's post and photo_rb's comment, I still have a 2011 Mac mini that came with an HDD and since replacing it with an SSD it runs just fine for standard office work and booting is very quick.

Yeah, it's really the 16GB limitation and the question of longevity that made me uneasy about committing to a Mini. I was really hoping/expecting that they'd offer a Mini with the M1 Pro and 32GB at around 1699/1799 as this seems like the sweet spot for a photo-centric workflow. Obviously, they didn't give us that. So, I went 'all in' for a M1 Max Studio w/ 64GB thinking I can run some VMs on it and replace one of my Linux servers in addition to serving as my long-term desktop.

Lomography's LomoChrome '92 is designed to mimic the look of classic drugstore film that used to fill family photo albums. As we discovered, to shoot with it is to embrace the unexpected, from strange color shifts to odd textures and oversized grain.

The LowePro PhotoSport Outdoor is a camera pack for photographers who also need a well-designed daypack for hiking and other outdoor use. If that sounds like you, the PhotoSport Outdoor may be a great choice, but as with any hybrid product, there are a few tradeoffs.

The new Wacom One 12 pen display, now in its second generation, offers photographers an affordable option to the mouse or trackpad, making processing images easy and efficient by editing directly on the screen.

If you want a compact camera that produces great quality photos without the hassle of changing lenses, there are plenty of choices available for every budget. Read on to find out which portable enthusiast compacts are our favorites.

You can't be a photographer without taking photos, but after the birth of his son, DPReview's newest editor, Eric Limer, gives much more thought to sharing them. And that, he explains, is why Google Photos is his choice for Gear of the Year.

This morning, DivePhotoGuide (DPG) announced the winning images in the 2023 edition of its underwater photography competition. From a juvenile imperial blackfish catching a ride on a jellyfish to a hunting frogfish, see which photos floated to the top of this competition. ff782bc1db
