TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I provide instruction in the process of singing through a healthy and technical manner. The process of singing includes physical, emotional, and intellectual practices that when applied in a healthy and technical-based manner can provide growth and mastery in skills when the student is disciplined. The singing instrument, in particular, is very personal, and one that can cause vulnerability. I work to create a safe and engaging environment so that students feel comfortable taking the necessary risks to develop their technique and ability. We look beyond just singing well. The ultimate goal is to achieve a well-disciplined and rehearsed instrument based upon the students background, abilities, and goals through the practice of technique and aesthetics.

My focus in teaching voice is on the process of singing, concentrating on the journey and not solely on the end product. I work to build a relationship with each student that will spur on confidence in their ability and belief in self. My teaching addresses the student as a whole; vocal and personal development.
