Ginger Birch, a Lee’s Summit native, is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University (B.S. Vocal Music, 2001) and holds a M.S. Vocal Performance & Conducting from Calvary University (2021). Ginger has taught private voice and piano lessons since 2002, currently at her home studio, Studio Chyree, with over twenty-five students ranging in ages from elementary students to adults. She has many years of teaching experience working with various age groups in educational settings whether it be with children’s choirs, church organizations, schools, non-profit organizations, or theatre groups. Ginger currently works with STG Studio, the educational arm of Summit Theatre Group teaching musical theatre classes and performance camps. She previously worked as Company Manager for Summit Theatre Group for six years as well as contracted for the LSR7 School District as awards assembly music director for Campbell Middle School.
Ginger has sung with various choral organizations including the Kansas City Symphony Chorus performing works such as Haydn’s Creation, Faure’s Requiem, Rutter’s Magnificat, and Stravinsky’s Mass among many others. Some of her solo and ensemble appearances have been in Hanson’s Song of Democracy, Dubois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Handel’s Messiah. Her favorite opera credits include The Pirates of Penzance and scenes from Le Nozze Di Figaro, The Ballad of Baby Doe, and La Boheme.
Ginger has served as music director for the musicals Title of Show, Hands on A Hardbody, Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast (twice!), The Little Mermaid Jr., Not Another Christmas Letter!, Shrek the Musical, Newsies, The Lion King Jr., Beauty and the Beast Jr., Newsies Jr., Annie Jr., Into the Woods Jr., Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The Happy Elf as well as directed Madagascar Jr., Junie B. Jones Jr., Seussical Kids, It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play and Disenchanted! for community theatre among others for academic & church theatre.
Notable performing credits include Little Women (Marmee), The Little Mermaid (Ursula), Bright Star (Mama Murphy), Sweeney Todd (Beggar Woman), Silent Sky (Annie Cannon), The Sound of Music (Maria), The Gifts of the Magi (Della Dillingham), The Secret Garden (Alice), Man of La Mancha (Antonia), The King and I (Lady Thiang), Annie (Grace), Waiting for MacArthur (Margaret) and Almost, Maine (Glory/Hope).
In addition, Ginger recently debuted on a Kansas City regional theatre stage with Padgett Productions in Elf the Musical as Emily Hobbs in December 2023.
