ZOOM User Instructions

Welcome to the Child Voice Program Zoom help page!

For the Child Voice Online program we use Zoom, a web based conferencing platform.

You can access Zoom from PC, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android.

When you join the program, we send you login details for all the sessions of the program.

These login details are the same for all sessions.

If you experience any issues logging onto Zoom or during the session, please contact your facilitators.

Setting up ZOOM

  1. Allow enough time (preferably 10min) prior to the session to set up and be ready for the planned start time.

  1. PC users: Copy & Paste the URL link in your Internet browser then press ENTER. It will prompt you to download the ZOOM Desktop app.

  1. Tablet or Smart phone users: Search “zoom” on your App store or Google Play to download the app. Click on the Zoom link to connect to the session.

  1. Select your applicable audio conference options; (you can test computer mic & speakers).

  1. Turn on the video (this is a requirement of the program due to the interactive format of the sessions)

  2. Join us and participate via voice with your audio, visually with your webcam and text via the chat function.

Participating in an online session

When you join a ZOOM meeting you will see this control screen

Mute/Unmute & Audio Settings

You can mute and unmute your microphone. The host also has the ability to mute you. If you click on the arrow next to the mute button, you will have additional options for audio settings. You can change your microphone, leave the computer audio or access the audio options.

Start/Stop Video & Video Settings

You can turn your camera on or off with the Start/Stop Video button. However we will ask you to keep your video on for the purpose of keeping the session interactive. By clicking on the arrow next to the start/stop video button, you can change webcams, access your Zoom video settings.

Participants

If you click on Participants, you can see who is currently in the group. The participants list also gives you the option to raise your hand or rename yourself.

To notify host and participants that you want to talk.

Chat [Type in comments in a chat box]

To notify host and participants that you want to talk. click on this button and it will open a chat box. You can choose "all participants", "host" or other participants in the session by name.

Choose video layout

At the upper right of the Zoom window, you can switch between active speaker view and gallery view. You can also switch between a shared screen and the video by clicking on a button available in this location during a screen share.
