Climate, health and food

What we eat has a big impact on climate change and the environment.

Over a quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions come from food, and most of those emissions come from animal products.

Cutting down on red meat and dairy is one of the best things you can do to cut your carbon footprint.

There are also big health benefits from eating less red and processed meat - for example, reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease.

Buying local - how much difference does it make?

The impact of food miles is much less than many people think. In fact, by far the biggest source of food emissions is from the farm.

So, cutting down red meat and dairy is better for reducing emissions than buying local.
