Climate change news
In the last few days, the most discussed news was the G20 meeting and its participation in the 26th UN World Climate Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. Community leaders were harshly criticized due to the fact that their current ideas mostly repeat the Paris Agreement of 2015.
"If the G20 was a dress rehearsal, then world leaders fluffed their lines. Their communique turned out to be weak, lacking both ambition and vision, and simply failed to meet the moment," said Jennifer Morgan, executive director of Greenpeace International.
Nevertheless, the summit resulted in three signed documents. These are the declaration on forests and land use, the declaration on reducing methane emissions by 30% by 2030 and the declaration on the introduction of advanced green technologies. The President of Russia has signed only one declaration on forest conservation. He stated that Russia aims to move to a carbon-neutral economy by 2060 and relies on the potential of forests that absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen.
