We are hosting a nude model drawing session for students who are interested in expanding their breadth of artistic opportunities! SOFA has invited a previous ACC model who has modeled in classes previously to assist us with a series of poses. Sketchbooks and drawing supplies recommended. Easels and boards will be available for use. RSVPs are appreciated for this event, but not necessary.
Doors will open at 4:30 and close at 4:45 until the end of the meeting as a safety precaution.

SOFA would like to invite art students or any other artistically inclined students to an open studio. We wish to provide a relaxing, no-pressure space for students to work amongst other artists. Easels, workhorses, and drawing boards are available in the classroom in limited numbers. We recommend bringing any other necessary supplies, while SOFA will have a small collection of basic tools we may not have everything you need!

We're kicking off the Spring with some new officers! We will be doing introductions and then creating "love letters" to our future artists selves. Materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring any other items you wish to use. Light snacks will be provided. The meeting will take place in the painting room on the first floor of the 4000 building, access is through the ArtLab.
Spring End of Semester Party! There were snacks, friends, and crafts. We hung out downstairs in building 4000 between the Fashion Incubator and ArtLAB before saying goodbye for the Summer.
SOFA members were invited bring in up to 2 works for an open critique with ACC faculty members and fellow students. All mediums and majors are welcome for these events.
SOFA member's artworks were featured alongside Clay Club and 3D Arts Club for an entire month in the Highland Campus' ArtLAB.
Our Officer-at-Large Constance Matheny is hosted her very own collage workshop. Students gathered for FREE with materials provided to learn about collage from an experienced artist, fellow classmate, and SOFA council member.
We met and took votes for upcoming events this semester with members. Afterwards, members went down to artLAB to see the artworks hanging for the Spring '24 SOFA show.
SOFA members met and discussed our upcoming semester, then we went to checkout TAG's Material Evolution from Texas Sculpture Group in Gallery 2000 together.
We celebrated the end of the semester together with hot chocolate, making decorative holiday hangers and playing games!

SOFA hosted Critique Night in building 1000 with feedback provided by fellow classmates and ACC faculty members Shawn Camp, Nicholas Diertien, and Pehr Smith.

We invited members to beat the rainy weather, grab a classmate to show off your organization to, and join us for free snacks, drinks, and games!
SOFA hosted a party to get into the Halloween spirit by painting pumpkins and making buttons in room 4.1410.2, near the ArtLab.

SOFA said goodbye for the summer after a very eventful semester full of workshops, gatherings, and shows!
We hosted our very first student member show in ArtLAB!
SOFA hosted a surprise party to show appreciation for our wonderful faculty advisors! Members were able to show their support for the advisors, have fun, and eat cupcakes.
Come get feedback on your projects and practice your critiquing skills! Several art professors will be available to answer questions and help give feedback.
SOFA hosted Sarah Gaertner for her workshop on creative collage, which will cover both the techniques of collage and her approach to the creative process!
SOFA hosted ACC alumni Makenna Hatter-Paxton for a panel building workshop! Attendees were taught how to safely work in ACC's sculpture shop and build their own painting supports.
SOFA hosted our second member workshop, led by Connie Matheny and guest teacher Gale Schaffer! The workshop was an introduction to the medium of alcohol ink, and attendees were able to experiment with a variety of tools and techniques.
SOFA hosted our very first member-led workshop, led by SOFA president Diana Carpenter! The workshop covered different techniques for shading in pen, and attendees were able to practice new skills and receive feedback.
SOFA hosted ACC Alum and local artist Alexis Hunter for an artist talk! Members were able to learn more about Alexis' education and professional experiences, and participate in a Q&A afterwards.
SOFA hosted a life drawing night to provide members with an opportunity to practice their skills with a live model. Members were able to study a variety of poses in mediums ranging from sumi ink to charcoal to graphite, and made lots of great drawings!
SOFA hosted a creative game night, where members were able to participate in group drawing games like visual telephone! Members were able to have fun, eat snacks, and get to know one another.
To celebrate the end of the semester, SOFA hosted a lively celebration at ACC Highland! With tons of food, card games, and good company, members were able to blow off steam from a long semester and celebrate all their hard work.
SOFA hosted a critique night as an opportunity for members to get feedback on their work from professors and other students. Held toward the end of the semester, this was a great opportunity for attendees to get thoughts on their final projects, and to practice their critiquing skills.
SOFA hosted a doodle night for a loose, fun way for members to get their creative juices flowing! SOFA provided drawing supplies, snacks, and prompts, and our members came up with fun and unique doodles!
SOFA collaborated with the Arts and Digital Media Department to participate in the Austin Studio tour! SOFA members were able to submit work to our first show, which was on view in the Art Lab at ACC Highland.
President Diana Carpenter hosted a night of games, candy, and pumpkin decorating for SOFA members!
