SOFA arose out of a particular need in the art community at ACC. Though several student organizations were available for specific mediums, such as ceramics and sculpture, there was no place for students of different disciplines to come together for community and support. In the fall semester of 2022, faculty advisors Shawn Camp, Jonas Criscoe, and Nicole DiMucci organized the first meeting of what would become the Student Organization of Fine Arts. Since then, SOFA has grown into a thriving organization that provides a space for creatives of all kinds to find opportunities, support, and community.
How do I join?
Easy! Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click the JOIN button. That'll take you to our Student Life page, where you can join the SOFA rolls! From there, we'll send you an invitation to our slack channel, where you can keep up with all the latest announcements and participate in club discussions.
What are the requirements?
SOFA's only requirements are that you be a current ACC student in good standing with the college (2.0 GPA or higher), and that you are up to date on your dues, which are $5 a semester. If dues present a financial hardship, though, please contact us for sponsorship options!
Do I have to be enrolled in an art class?
Nope! Everyone is welcome, whether you're an experienced artist, or just picking up a medium for the first time.
How often does the club meet?
SOFA holds regular meetings with lots of events in between. Check out our events page for what's coming up!
Where does the club meet?
Our regular meeting place is room 4.1410.20 at ACC's Highland campus. It's down the hallway to the escalator in the 4000 building, access is easiest through the ArtLab
