General Information
Volunteers will be involved in anything ranging from triage, documentation, physicals, patient education and follow-ups. It is important to carpool due to limited parking spaces. Please arrive at the clinic site by approximately 5:45PM so that the Leadership Committee may preview the evening for everybody involved.
Requirements
Clinic attendance requires SP attire along with bringing one's own stethoscope, ophthalmoscope, blood pressure cuff and otoscope. A maximum of 10 patients may be seen on any given clinic evening. Please click on the Clearances tab in order to see what must be completed before you may help see a patient.
Sign-Up Procedure
A sign-up sheet will be emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to every student clinic meeting. Please be on the lookout for it because spaces fill up quickly! Please cancel 1 week prior to the clinic event if you can no longer attend, and be sure to email PCOMstudentclinic@gmail.com of your decision.
Clinic Flow Information
Triage: Patients check in and fill out intake forms and are then guided towards a medical team.
Medical Team: Consists of two medical students, one being a junior student (M1 or M2) while the other being a senior student (M3 or M4). The upper level students will be expected to lead the visit and help educate junior students. The H&P must then be presented to the attending who will complete the Dx and Rx sections of the patient report.
Exit Interview: An Advocacy Committee Member will then conduct an exit interview and proceed to begin the follow-up process for patients. Please see the Follow-Ups tab for protocol.
