We got tired of waiting for the world to feel a lil softer, so we're doing it ourselves. We think art should be accessible, part of our daily lives, & celebrated as a way to find a bit of reflection, joy, & whimsy in the everyday. To do this, we've purposely sprinkled these Art Bricks of art across the city in spaces & places where one might notice them as part of a daily routine. We love putting 'em in parks, bus stops, pedestrian crossings, walking paths, residential areas.. all the spaces that make up the fabric of our lives. We want you to start exploring, again. We'll see ya out there. ✌️
The purpose of this art experiment is twofold:
1) to make local art more accessible to the public &
2) to encourage more whimsy in the world.
Lofty goals? Perhaps.. but we wouldn't be us without those, right??
This call was open to anyone who wanted to create a mini art piece specifically for this community art installation & all 20 spaces were claimed in 5 hours. Wow.
✨ We provide you with a mini canvas (4x4")
✨ You can decorate the canvas
✨ You choose your theme, preferred medium, etc
✨ You return your completed art to us
✨ It will become part of a traveling, public art installation
✨ Open to EVERYONE/ANYONE who wants to join in!
We'll be inviting the community to check out your art while it is on display.
💭 We are being deliberately vague about the details (you'll see why later)
💭 By participating with this project, you accept that your art will become part of this collection, & will not be returned to you
💭 We won't reveal our MYSTERY LOCATION(S) until we launch....
..but we caught that wicked flu & it pushed us back 3 weeks. That's what happens when you try to be over-prepared, I guess. Lesson learned!
Sign up to have your art shown as part of POCKET GALLERY
We accept art from all corners of the world for this project, provided that you can get it to us here in Lethbridge, Alberta!
