Here at St. Rónán's N.S. Taughmaconnell, we believe that every child is unique and special. We provide every child with a broad range of experiences so that each and every child can find a passion that will hopefully stay with them for the rest of their life. We fully utilize our teaching staff's broad range of interests, skills and expertise by promoting collaboration between teachers and to enable teachers to share their unique skill sets with other classes within the school. Throughout a child's educational experience in our school, they will get to experience a wide range of experiences. Here are just some of the wonderful experiences that children attending our school get to try.
We have great fun learning about Irish Produce, growing our own vegetables and creating meals with locally grown produce.
In the spring, we fill our windowsills, raised beds and keyhole garden with seeds hoping to have a bountiful harvest before our summer holidays.
St. Patrick's Day Parade's, Easter Egg Hunts, Visits, from Santa Clause, traditional Halloween games are just some of the wonderful events that all play an important part of our school year.
We partake in a wide range of sports and where possible we travel to various venues to play with other schools. Of course, we also get the odd trip to the wonderful Cuckoo Hill.
Roscommon Sports Partnership visit our school every year to ensure that our senior students are equipped with the right skills to travel safely on our roads.
Where possible, we try to bring learning alive with practical lessons and trips to local places of interest.
We believe reading should be enjoyable and fun parttime. Children get to partake in various reading initiatives such as World Book Day, Literacy Circles and Book Club.
“The game of chess is not merely an idle amusement. Several very valuable qualities of the mind, useful in the course of human life, are to be acquired or strengthened by it… Life is a kind of Chess, in which we have often points to gain, and competitors or adversaries to contend with.” – Benjamin Franklin
