Jean-Luc Sarvadon is a PhD candidate in Aerospace Engineering at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) of the Politecnico di Torino. Throughout his academic journey at the Politecnico di Torino, he has developed a specialization in space Guidance, Navigation, and Control, culminating in a master’s thesis in 2024 titled, “Design and Testing of Guidance Strategies for In-Orbit Servicing and Close Proximity Operations” in collaboration with TXT E-Tech. Following his degree, he was awarded a research fellowship in collaboration with Thales Alenia Space, where he contributed to the development of high-fidelity sensor models and advanced pose estimation algorithms for rendezvous operations in in-orbit servicing (IOS) applications. In November 2024, Jean-Luc started his PhD program, where he is currently engaged in research on vision-based navigation systems. His work focuses on the creation of sophisticated algorithms aimed at accurately reconstructing the pose of unknown, non-cooperative space targets.
Research topics:
Autonomous Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) for Space Missions
Spacecraft Rendezvous and Proximity Operations
