Dario Ruggiero is a PhD student at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) of Politecnico di Torino. He graduated in July 2020 in Aerospace Engineering after a period at the New Mexico State University (NM USA), where he worked on his Master thesis focused on NASA Astrobee robots. After the graduation, he received three research grants to work on Space GNC system, and in particular, the application of sliding mode controllers, for attitude control and stabilization, and observer-based algorithms, for actuators failure detection. He took part to the studies for mission LISA, under the supervision of the European Space Agency, and whitin a collaboration between Thales Alenia Space and the Department of Electronics and Telecomunication (DET). In November 2021 he started his PhD studies at Politecnico di Torino, focusing his research about guidance and navigation algorithms for space formation flight.
Research topics:
Autonomous GNC design for Space Applications
