When you share a folder, the files and subfolders inside are updated with the new sharing settings. Depending on how you shared the folder, the people you shared with will have access to the files inside:

The problem we are running into is that the IFrame and PDF Viewer in perspective cannot access shared network drives, whereas the PDF Viewer in Vision is able to. Since the shared network drives are accessible from the gateway, I figured this should be possible. Is this related to Perspective being in a browser, or does some kind of Webdev mounting need to happen? Incidentally, we tried Webdev mounting of a shared drive but the shared drives did not appear.

I am having the same trouble for perspective pdf viewer. I have gone through mapping doc but didnt find any success. can you share your insights on whether it is done on your side or not. Or maybe i need to approach different solution.

We were able to get a mounted network shared drive set up that Ignition can talk to, store files onto it (from user upload), and display those files by referencing the file share URL. We also have an internal website that displays PDF files, and we can just embed that URL into the Perspective PDF Viewer which works very well for us and was easier to use. This is a late reply, but hopefully you were able to get it on your end!

So one really important feature, especially in fields dominated by... ahem... less tech-savvy people, is ease of use. For example, it would be pretty cool if, upon opening a Drive share link that contains only a single PDF file, Proton Drive would just show the PDF in addition to the download page.

Currently, if the user shares his folder with the editor permission I can download the file with the files.get method. But if he shares the folder with the viewer permission. I get insufficientFilePermissions: The user does not have sufficient permissions for this file.

So is there an easy solution to make it work with the viewer permission or should I stick with the editor solution? If so, is there documentation that proves to my users that I have no choice but to use the editor solution?

It is still possible to download files if you have the viewer permission, however the copyRequiresWriterPermission permission has to be changed. This can be done through the Drive UI as well, the API is not necessary to do this change.

It is important to note that this permission applies to the file, not the folder, so if the user shares the folder with you with the viewer permission, they will still need to change the copyRequiresWriterPermission for you to be able to download files. Rather than using the API, the user can use the Google Drive UI to select multiple files within the folder, then enable the permission.

I have a workspace domain with split licensing - some Business Starter and some Business Standard. I have some existing shared drives I want to add members with a Business Starter license. It will only let me add them as a viewer. I keep getting the message "That user is not licensed to have higher than View access."

Shared drives for Business Starter hasn't rolled out yet, even if your Business Starter domain is already on pooled storage. Once available later this year, you will be able to assign any member role, not limited to View only anymore.

Thanks for the information. We are about to action a large rollout across our group. It would be extremely helpful to know when this Starter Shared Drive access will be live. When it is live, are there any changes to the admin portal required to enable greater than view access on shared drives for Starter users?

The work to transition every single Business Starter customer is still on-going. And only once that's fully done, we can then start the roll out of shared drives in Business Starter. Even though I can't share an exact date right now, I can share that shared drives won't launch before the end of the year. It will be early 2024.

Once we launch, you won't need to make any changes in the admin portal (we will automatically opt-in everyone, and you could opt-out if you wanted). You will need to update all the users and groups on existing shared drives though, e.g. if you wanted to change them from Viewers to Content Managers or any other role.

Whether you're sharing with a specific list of people or have a much larger viewer-base in mind, there are some precautions that should be taken to ensure that you and your collaborators are sharing safely and securely.

You can limit the amount of time that a collaborator has access to your document. This option is only available for commenters and viewers of your document. To set an expiration, hover your mouse next to the share settings changes and click the stopwatch icon that will appear.

If you want to openly share your document with others, you can still specify how you would like your document to be shared. For documents created with your Reed account, you'll be given the following options:

You can share files and folders in iCloud Drive so other people can view and edit them. You can also allow participants to add people to a file or folder. To learn more about the roles of owner and participant, see What can you do in a shared file or folder on iCloud.com?

Email: Click Share. In the email window that appears, add the email addresses of the people you want to share with, make any additional edits, then click Send. The email option is only available when you have iCloud Mail turned on.

Copy Link: After you select Copy Link, a text box appears. Add the email addresses or phone numbers the people you want to share with, then click Share. A new window appears with the link for your file. Copy the link and send it.

However, if I cd to /mnt/winshareh on the terminal and list everything, I cannot see anything, it just gives me a blank result, or as below, I can create a file or folder (only as root, gives permission denied without sudo), and it will then list them, but not the backups that are actually inside the folder on the drive.

I've been used to downloading PDFs on my phone and have them directly saved on my downloads folder. But just recently, whenever I download PDFs, Google Drive viewer shows up. I know there's a download option on Google Drive viewer. But when I open the file, it prompts that there's no app that can read it. I have Acrobat and Drive that I used to read PDFs with.

In my case these instructions meant that I reverted to the older version of chrome that came with my tablet. When I clicked on a PDF file within that old version of chrome and was asked for my choice of viewer, I emphatically chose something non-Google, to be used every time. I was able to view the PDF file within my viewer of choice and got a PDF file in my download folder.

The step that I have to add to those instructions is that after following them I tried updating chrome to the latest version. The new choice of PDF viewer is still in place. So long as I never return to the Google viewer I should be able to change my default viewer again.

I tried a number of options previously used but none worked on getting chrome to use the default pdf viewer previously set on the device (in my case, Foxit ...highly recommended for any small screen because it offers "word reflow")

Then it stopped and for every PDF downloaded through Google Chrome app. It displayed the whole PDF in Drive but after storing it just didn't open in any other PDF viewer, said: "cannot be displayed, unrecognized format".

You can only use this service if you have a Northern Ireland driving licence. If you have a licence from the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in Great Britain go to: View or share your driving licence information - gov.uk

When you send someone a personal invitation to a shared folder, they can preview it and add it to their files. They can also edit its contents if you grant them permission to do so. When you send someone a view-only link, they can preview it and add it to their files, but not edit it. Previewing and adding shared folders to your files can only be done in MATLAB Drive online and requires a MathWorks Account.

You can share a folder from MATLAB and MATLAB Drive online by sending a personal invitation. Sharing a folder by personal invitation allows you to give others both view and edit permission to your files. To send an invitation:

Right-click the folder and select Share > Invite Members. If you have already shared the folder by personal invitation, select Manage Members instead. In MATLAB Drive online, you also can click the Share button and select from the available options.

In the Invite section of the invitation, enter the email addresses of the people that you want to share this folder with. To share the folder with multiple people, enter multiple email addresses and separate them with semicolons or commas.

Select Can View to share the folder as a read-only folder or Can Edit to allow invited members to edit its contents. If you want to share the folder with multiple people using different permissions, send each invitation separately.

Once you personally invite someone to share a folder, you can change their folder permissions from MATLAB and MATLAB Drive online. For example, if you invite someone to share a folder as a read-only folder, you can change their permissions to allow them to edit its contents.

To change the folder permissions for an invited member, right-click the shared folder and select Share > Manage Members. In the Shared With section, next to the address of the invited member, select a different folder permission. Then, click Save to update the permissions.

You also can share a folder from MATLAB and MATLAB Drive online by creating and distributing a view-only link to the folder. Sharing a folder using a view-only link gives others view permissions to your files. To create and distribute a view-only link to a folder:

To remove access to a shared folder from a view-only link, right-click the shared folder and select Share > Manage Link. Click Delete Link and confirm the deletion by clicking Delete. 17dc91bb1f
