Straighter is made by Olga Afanaseva, contact tesitngbesting01@gmail.com.
This policy explains what Straighter does with your information. The short version: Straighter works without an account, your posture photos never leave your control, and the only things that reach a server are your subscription status and not linked to your name usage events.
Straighter has no accounts. There is nothing to sign up for or sign in to.
Your posture photos are analyzed on your phone. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Your photos, scans, answers and progress are stored on your device and, if iCloud is on, in your own private iCloud account. We cannot see or access either.
Straighter shows no ads, uses no advertising identifiers, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Straighter sends not linked to your name usage events so we can see what to fix. They never include your photos or your name. You can switch this off in Profile → Share usage data.
The only times Straighter contacts a server, apart from your own iCloud, are when you buy or restore a subscription and to send those not linked to your name usage events.
When you use Straighter, the following is saved in the app's private storage on your phone:
Your posture photos (side-profile photos you take or choose).
Your scan results: posture score, grade, the main finding, and the measured angles and positions (for example neck angle and upper-back curve).
Your onboarding answers: age range, how many hours a day you sit and use screens, where you feel tension, your goals, how long you've noticed your posture, whether you've tried to fix it before, and how active you are.
The name you choose to add in Profile, if any.
Your progress: which exercises you completed on which days, your streak, and your place in the 12-month program.
Your reminder choices and times.
iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is enabled for Straighter, this data is also synced to your private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit, so it survives a reinstall and appears on your other devices. Your private iCloud database belongs to your Apple Account. We, as the developer, cannot read it. You can turn this off in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud. Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Some of this is information about your body and wellbeing. That is why the photos and scans stay with you: Straighter is designed so they never need to reach us.
Straighter asks for camera access to take a side-profile photo. You can also pick a photo from your library; iOS only gives Straighter the single photo you choose, not access to your library.
The photo is analyzed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device Vision framework, which finds your ear, shoulder, hip and body outline to estimate your posture. The photo is never uploaded to us, never shared with third parties and never used for anything else. It is kept in the app (and your private iCloud, if on) so you can compare your progress. If you decline camera access, you can still choose a photo from your library.
3.1.1 Face data
Straighter does not collect face data. It does not use face recognition, face tracking, Face ID, the TrueDepth camera or ARKit face tracking, and it does not create, store or share face geometry, facial landmarks, face prints or any other biometric identifier.
Because the posture photo is a side view of your whole body, it may show your face. To measure head position, Apple's on-device Vision framework finds body points in the photo, including your ear and nose as single points. The ear position is saved with the scan as two numbers so the app can draw your posture line on the photo; the nose position is used only to tell which way you are facing and is not saved. None of this is used to identify you.
The photo and these measurements are processed only on your device and stored only on your device and, if iCloud is on, in your own private iCloud database. They are never sent to us and never shared with any third party, including RevenueCat and PostHog. They are kept until you delete them with Profile → "Delete all data", or delete the app and its iCloud data.
Purchases are handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, Inc., which we use to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives your App Store transaction information (product, price, dates, renewals, cancellations, refunds), basic device and app information, and a random identifier that Straighter creates for you. The same identifier is used on your other devices signed in to the same iCloud account, so your subscription follows you.
If "Share usage data" is on, we also attach a few attributes to this not linked to your name record to understand which parts of the app help: your onboarding answers (not your name), your latest posture score, grade and main finding, and the times of app events listed in 3.3.
We never see and never store your payment card details. Apple handles payment.

RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Straighter uses PostHog, Inc. (US data centre) to count how the app is used, so we can tell which parts work and which get abandoned.
What is sent: a fixed list of events — the app was opened, an onboarding screen was reached, onboarding was completed, a scan was completed (with its score, grade and main finding), reminders were chosen, the paywall was shown or closed, a purchase or restore succeeded, an exercise was completed, a day was completed, a program stage was completed. Alongside them we send your onboarding answers, your latest score and grade, basic device and app information (device model, iOS and app version, language), and the random identifier described above. PostHog may derive an approximate location (country/city) from your IP address.
What is never sent: your photos, your name, your email or Apple ID, or anything that identifies you personally.
We have switched off, in code, the analytics features that would collect data on their own: automatic screen capture and session replay.
Turning it off: Profile → "Share usage data". Switching it off stops new events immediately and also stops usage attributes being sent to RevenueCat.
PostHog's privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy
Reminders are scheduled locally by your phone. Their contents are generated on the device and are not sent through any server. There are two kinds: "Exercises ready" (on by default) and "Posture check-ins" (off unless you turn them on). You can turn each one off individually in Profile, or all of them in iOS Settings.
We do not show ads or work with advertising networks.
We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and do not ask to track you.
We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own purposes.
We do not build a profile of you across other apps or websites.
We do not upload, view or share your posture photos.
We do not use session recording, heatmaps, or any tool that captures what is on your screen.
We do not access your contacts, location, microphone or health records.
Straighter is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Users under 18 should use Straighter with a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us at tesitngbesting01@gmail.com and we will act on it.
Because Straighter keeps your photos and progress on your own device and iCloud, you are in direct control of them:
See it: everything Straighter knows about you is visible inside the app.
Change it: edit your name and reminders in Profile at any time.
Erase all of it: Profile → "Delete all data" removes your answers, photos, scans and progress from this device, from your private iCloud and from your other devices on the same Apple Account. Your subscription is not affected.
Stop analytics: Profile → "Share usage data".
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA to access, correct, export or delete personal information held about you, and to complain to a data protection authority. We hold no copy of your photos, scans or answers on our own servers. To request a copy or deletion of the not linked to your name records kept by RevenueCat or PostHog, write to tesitngbesting01@gmail.com from Profile → Contact support (it includes your user ID so we can find your records), or include the user ID shown at the bottom of the Profile screen. We will answer within 30 days.
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on the performance of our contract with you (providing the app and your subscription), your consent (camera and notifications, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings), and our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app (not linked to your name analytics, which you can switch off).
Local and iCloud data stays until you delete it in the app, delete the app and its iCloud data, or turn off iCloud for Straighter. Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat under their own policies and as required for tax and accounting. Not linked to your name usage events are kept by PostHog for up to 24 months.
Straighter relies on iOS's built-in app sandbox and file encryption to protect what is stored on your device, and on Apple's encryption for iCloud. All network requests the app makes use HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
RevenueCat and PostHog process data in the United States. Where required, transfers are protected by safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
If we change how Straighter handles information, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date above. If the change is significant — for example if a future version adds accounts or sends new kinds of data — we will say so clearly in the app before the change affects you.
