September Specialties:
Weight Pull
Shedus must pull a flat sled with sand bags on it and drag it a certain distance across the arena. After each round, more weight is added until it is eventually too heavy to pull. The shedu able to pull the heaviest sled the farthest wins.
Handler: Required. Stands on the sled and drives the shedu forward with driving reins
Shedu Tack: Driving harness attached to a sled with sand bags on it
Setting: Closed-in arena/field (indoor or outdoor)
Restrictions: Shedus must be 185 cm or taller to participate
Lure Coursing
Shedus chase a mechanized, white plastic lure that is dragged across a course that simulates the unpredictability of chasing live prey. Shedus must chase the lure down the course and catch it.
Handler: Not required
Shedu Tack: Halter or Collar
Setting: Outdoor field/open space with enough room for the shedus to chase the lure
Objects: A lure (white or brightly colored piece of plastic) attached to a rope that is pulled quickly across the ground
Restrictions: None, open to all shedu
