Here is the general schedule for the remainder of the process:
Final Comprehensive Plan Amendment applications due: April 16, 2021
Staff/Agency Review and comments: April & May
Environmental Review (SEPA): May & June
Planning Commission Briefing: June 21st, 6:30 pm
Planning Commission Public Hearing: August 2nd, 6:30 pm
Legal Department Ordinance Prep: September
Council: Oct/Nov
The Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the Council’s application and is now scheduled for August 2nd.
After the public hearing, the Planning Commission will deliberate on the proposals and form a recommendation, which gets forwarded to City Council. It may take the Commission a few meetings to complete its recommendation, which must be in writing for Comprehensive Plan Amendments.
The Planning Commission recommendation is then forwarded to City Council for final decision. The Council may elect to hold its own public hearing, but it is not required to do so (and usually does not). Council review and decision typically takes place in October or November.
