Stop Proposed Subdivision
ON MORROW MILL ROAD / GOLD MINE LOOP
ON MORROW MILL ROAD / GOLD MINE LOOP
Last night the Board of County Commissioners voted UNANIMOUSLY to reject a proposed 100-unit development and rezoning on Morrow Mill Road in southwest Orange County.
The commissioners echoed many of the points raised by our neighbors in emails and in comments voiced at the meetings. Ultimately, they agreed that the rezoning requests were not consistent with the county’s Comprehensive Plan, and they emphasized the need to support small farmers and the rural environment now more than ever.
We encourage you to reach out and thank the commissioners for their keen consideration of the interests of the existing community. You can reach them at ocbocc@orangecountync.gov
This is an important reminder that misplaced development is not inevitable, and our participation makes a difference!

SHOWING UP IS THE BEST THING TO DO!
Not only does showing up allow you to learn things about the proposed project and the legislative process in real-time, but it also provides you with opportunities to ask questions and voice your concerns.
It is meaningful to the Planning Board and the County Commissioners when residents come to meetings. Plus, it's a great opportunity to meet some neighbors! So grab your friends and family, and we look forward to seeing you there.
The BOCC often follows the Planning Board's recommendation, but it's not a done deal. These meetings are important opportunities to share our concerns.
See the "Timeline" page for more info.
Learn more about the proposal on the "Project Details" page and "FAQ" page, and check out the "Reference" page as well.
If you are unable to attend meetings, please email your comments to ocbocc@orangecountync.gov. It's best to get them in as early as possible so the board members have a chance to read them before the meeting.
