The commissioners echoed many of the points raised by our neighbors in emails and in comments voiced at the meetings. Ultimately, they agreed that the rezoning requests were not consistent with the county’s Comprehensive Plan, and they emphasized the need to support small farmers and the rural environment now more than ever.
We encourage you to reach out and thank the commissioners for their keen consideration of the interests of the existing community. You can reach them at ocbocc@orangecountync.gov

We showed up in stunning numbers to the February meeting to ask the BOCC to follow the Planning Board's unanimous recommendation to deny this proposed rezoning. We were so impressed by the clarity and passion shown by our neighbors who spoke during public comment. We are lucky to live in such a model community, and we hope the Commissioners will vote to safeguard its wellbeing.
The agenda for the upcoming meeting can be found here.
