Since October 2023, more than forty thousand residents were killed in the Gaza Strip, most of them women and children, the number of injured is estimated at one hundred thousand, and most of the residential and public buildings were destroyed. This catastrophe is the result of Israel's unrestrained attack on the Gaza Strip, which followed the horrible massacre of civilians by Hamas within Israel’s internationally recognized borders next to the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

The scope of the human disaster, which is rarely covered by the mainstream Israeli media, proves that the declared goals of the Israeli government – the destruction of Hamas and the release of the kidnapped – are used as a pretext for the expulsion of the Palestinians from large parts of the Gaza Strip. The abductees and IDF soldiers are sacrificed for the purpose of avoiding a political solution with the Palestinians and a delusionary project of establishing Jewish settlements on annexed parts of the Gaza Strip.

For about a year now, we have been appalled by the war crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip, and horrified by their long-term impact on both nations. To our horror the level of these crimes has escalated recently: The IDF's current attack on northern Gaza, which has been ongoing since October 5, 2024, involves deliberate starvation, which comes on top of the policy of deportation, killing and destroying of medical institutions. This policy has been manifested in other parts of Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war.

We call on all citizens of Israel to join us in an unequivocal appeal to stop the catastrophe; to immediately halt the campaign of killing and starvation; and strive for an agreement that will enable the release of the abductees and lead to the formulation of a political plan centered on the restoration of the Gaza Strip. Such a plan should guarantee a fair and safe human existence for Israelis and Palestinians in the entire area between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River.
