To be as prepared as possible for Model UN, it is highly recommended that you research your country and the topic. To structure that research, delegates should prepare a position paper before the conference.
The instructions below serve as a standardisation; the final jury goes to committee chairs, and guidelines will be specified in your respective Research Reports.
If there is no specified due date and/or submission method, please submit any position papers before 4 March 2027 via email to all chairs of your committee.
Position Papers should be titled as such: SHPGMUN'27_[Council]_PP_[Country]
Position Papers are to be written in British English with a competent degree of formality. Other languages may be used if the context requires it.
State your committee, agenda, country represented, and your full name in the Position Paper.
Position Papers are to be written in a suitable 12-point serif font, with 1.5-line spacing in justified format.
Usage of bold, italics, and underlines is permitted.
Delegates are required to cite any referenced sources in a bibliography section at the end of the position paper, following the APA Style 7th edition.
(For WHO, UNHRC, and ECOSOC:) Two Position Papers are required, one for each topic. Delegates should include both in one document.
Each Position Paper should not exceed 2 pages, excluding the bibliography.
These are the basic guidelines for what content can be included, but need not be followed strictly, and reasonable omissions/additions are allowed.
Introduction of your country's profile, and how it might relate to the agenda.
Introduction to your country's stance on the agenda.
Your country's past actions pertaining to the agenda.
Give a brief outline of how you will approach the issue throughout the conference; do note that you need not adhere to it rigidly.
The usage of artificial intelligence (AI) is strictly prohibited.
You are strongly discouraged from using Wikipedia as a research source.
