Parent Council meetings take place throughout the academic year. A list of dates and the associated minutes can be found here.
Members of the Parent Council are voted in at each AGM. For the current academic year, the parent council are noted below. You can contact us via the email stmaryspc1@gmail.com, through the school office or via primary year group chat groups where appropriate.
Our Constitution had minor amendments and revised changes were agreed at the AGM on 9th September 2025. This will now be fully reviewed in September 2027. Our updated Complaints Procedures was also agreed at the AGM.
The Chair Person is responsible for taking the lead and managing the quarterly Parent Council Meetings and AGM. They will liase with the Head Teacher throughout the academic year, supporting where required. They may be asked to represent the school Parent Forum in matters relating to our school cluster and wider Largs Campus partners. Anyone new to the role will be encouraged to attend an online session with Connect on the role of the Chair Person.
The secretary is reponsible for compiling the agenda and taking minutes for each of the meetings throughout the year, and circulating the minutes to the Parent Council members, updating the website and the school. The treasurer is responsbile for reporting the current status of our bank balance at quarterly meetings and compiling annual reports to share at the AGM. They also manage the cash floats for the Christmas Fayre and other events as appropriate. Anyone new to the role will be encouraged to attend an online session with Connect on the role of the Treasurer.
Members of the Parent Council, not holding an office bearer role, are vital to the success. They help shape the activities of the Parent Council to support the learning and teaching of our young people. The will assist in a communicating with the Parent Forum across the year group that their children are in.
The parent forum are all the families within our community of St Mary's Primary School whether they take an active role in the Parent Council or not. Their involvement can range from silent watching from afar to helping out occassionally at Parent Council events and attending meetings as they wish.
