Baptism is the mark of a Christian person and their commitment to Jesus Christ. Baptism with water signifies the cleansing from sin that Jesus’ death makes possible, and the new life that God gives us through the Holy Spirit.
In baptism, the promises of God are visibly signed and sealed for us. We are joined to Christ and made members of His body, the Church universal.
In Matthew’s Gospel: Jesus said, Go and make disciples of all the nations baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them everything I have commanded…’ – Matthew 28:19-20.

Marriage is the symbol of God’s unending love for his people, and of the union between Christ and his Church. So Saint Paul teaches that the husband must love his wife as Christ loved the Church, and that the wife must give due honour to her husband. Marriage is a life-long union in which a man and a woman are called to give themselves in body, mind, and spirit, and so to respond that from their union will grow a deepening knowledge and love of each other.
In Australia, the Commonwealth Marriage Act governs the legal requirements that you will comply with. The Anglican Church of Australia has some requirements that also need to be met if you have your marriage in a church or performed by an Anglican Priest.
