As of today I have:
ordered parts
machined most of the z-axis mechanism
experimented with with the solenoid actuator and the z-axis motor using a 12v power supply.
Pictured from left to right are the Nema 23 servo motors, power supplies and a servo driver, a solenoid actuator, and the machined z-axis mechanism.
Next week I plan to start programming the STM32 to control the DIR and PUL pins of the servo drivers and communicate with the Bluetooth module, finish the z-axis mechanism and start working on the x-axis, and make an electronics box. I may try to use an STM32 "Blue Pill" as the control board because of its much smaller footprint. Hopefully by next week I will also have a full CAD model incorporating a 3D scan of the typewriter.
