Discipleship Formation
I am the Vine.
You are the Branches.
Goals for the Curriculum
1. Each student will understand his/her role as a beloved son or daughter of God.
2. Each student will encounter Jesus, long to grow as His disciple, and joyfully witness
to His love and mercy in the family, on the playground, and throughout life.
3. Each year, proclamation of the kerygma will precede systematic teaching of doctrine.
4. Every lesson will be grounded in prayer, Scripture, the Liturgy, and solid teaching, with
opportunities for reflection and discussion.
5. Our children will not “graduate” from religious education, but be formed as joyful missionary
disciples for their journey of faith throughout life.
Discipleship Formation leads believers to a deeper knowledge and love
of Jesus Christ and the Church,
and a firm commitment to follow him.
“To follow Jesus is to be in a constant process of growth, like the seed that fell on rich soil. We seek to be more like Jesus, to treat others as he did, to pray as he prayed, to love as he loved, and to honor God in every area of our lives, including marriage, family life, finances, work and leisure activities. Growing as his disciple demands a daily surrender to the one who loved us and gave his life for us:
I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me”
(Gal. 2:20). Unleash the Gospel, Marker 9.2
