I am a Research Assistant Professor in the Sleep & Cognition Laboratory, National University of Singapore. In this role, I lead studies on sleep, fatigue, and performance. We run both lab-based experiments using neuroimaging and behavioral techniques, and real-world field studies using mobile sleep and performance-tracking technology.
A Longitudinal Study of Sleep in University Freshmen: Facilitating and Impeding Factors
Establishing healthy sleeping habits is a challenge for many college students. This study determined how academic schedule influenced sleep patterns across the semester, and if these are modulated by place of residence and class start times. 638 freshmen were followed with sleep trackers and a smartphone app over their first semester in university.
Glucoregulatory status modulates acute cognitive effects of repeated low-glycaemic snack consumption in older adults
We demonstrated that poorer glucoregulatory status negatively affected the cognitive responses to a low-GI snack intervention. This interaction between glucoregulatory status and treatment response was detectable in non-diabetic subjects with normal to mildly compromised glucose regulation.
Many people go to bed later than intended, yet very little is known about how bedtime plans are formed and followed. This study aimed to characterize bedtime planning, procrastination, and their relationship with objective sleep behavior among university students.
