St. Francis Catholic Worker Community

Oct 17, 2021 - Winter Weather Gear Needed:

As we and our guests prepare for the winter, people who visit our house need:

-Sleeping bags
-Tents
-Blankets
-Anything someone would want out in the cold

COVID-19 Sept 17, 2021 Update:

For anyone seeking our services, we are still opening at 7PM every night and serving dinner. Unvaccinated guest can get to-go meals and other supplies at the door. Vaccinated guests may enter the house and use the facilities. Masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn by all guests inside and outside on the property at all times except when eating or when using the restroom.

What We Do

We are a community doing its best to practice the works of mercy. (See left)

The Columbia Catholic Workers currently operate two houses of hospitality--St. Francis House for men and Lois Bryant House for women.

We and our amazing volunteers have also operated Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen for over 30 years - currently at Wilkes Boulevard United Methodist Church.

We operate and depend on donations of all kinds. The community of Columbia is what makes this house work! Although some Catholic Workers donate part of their salary, we could not provide the hospitality we do without your help.
