Your journal is an integral and mandatory part of the Literature Course. It will be a creative and evolving manuscript that can be in whatever form you wish it to take i.e. it can be a hard copy folder or a soft copy publication or a combination of both. Although it is not assessed the IB can ask to see it, as evidence of a student's educational journey and authenticity of production.
The journal should be a reflection of your learning experience from the commencement of this course to the end. It should also help you prepare for all the assessment tasks. As such, it can be [ but does not have to be] ordered according to the following:
Analysing literary extracts. [ With a view to Paper 1]
Writing My Comparative Essay [ With a view to Paper 2]
Preparing for my Higher Level Essay [ Higher Level Students only]
Preparing for my Oral on a Global Issue [ With a view to the Oral]
How I have used Literature to engage in CAS
How I have connected the study of Literature with other disciplines including TOK.
My reflections on my learning journey. You will be expected to submit a quarterly reflection.
Please note that the above order is a suggestion. If you prefer another approach then feel free to adopt it but you must show evidence of a learning journey, which reveals a spirit of inquiry and consequent discovery and then further inquiry.
