Assessment for Higher Students.

Paper 1 - guided literary analysis of two different literary forms , each accompanied by a question. Students will be asked to write a separate analysis of each of the passages focusing on the formalist approach to a literary text. This is worth 35% and is externally assessed.

Paper 2 - Comparative Essay - the paper consists of 4 general questions. In response to one of those questions , students will be asked to write a comparative essay based on two works studied in the course. This is worth 25% and externally assessed.

HL Essay - This component consists of a 1200 - 1500 word essay written during the course. Students are required to produce their own question based on a line of inquiry into the texts. This is worth 20% and is externally assessed.

Individual Oral -  Students will be asked to prepare an oral based on two of the works studied in relation to a global issue present in both of them. Delivery of oral will be no more than 10 mins. It will be followed by 5 mins of teacher questions. This is worth 20% and is internally assessed.

External assessment - 80%

Assessment for Standard Students
