The kick-off workshop of the DARLING project took place on 29-30 April 2026, in the presence of all partners and Swiss colleagues.
The first of 2 special issues on experimental approaches to argumentation has been published in the journal Argumentation (vol. 40, issue 1), with contributions by Francesca Ervas, Giulia Zucca & Oriana Mosca, Edoardo Lombardi Vallauri, Ermioni Seremeta, Monique Flecken, Menno Reijven & Jean Wagemans, Ramy Younis, Daniel de Oliveira Fernandes & myself.
My new research project DARLING (Deniability in ARgumentation and LINGuistics) has just started. This 4-year project funded by the Swiss National Fund, with 2 PhD candidates, Bruna Paz Schmid and Lou Odermatt, will look at the way people deny what others have taken them to mean, from a complementary perspective rooted in corpus linguistics and experimental pragmatics.

The SNSF has awarded me a grant for a 4-year research project on deniability (DARLING: Deniability in ARumentation and LINGuistics), scheduled to start on January 1st, 2026.
Together with my research team we attended the 5th European Conference on Argumentation (ECA2025, Warsaw University of Technology, 23-26 September 2025), where we convened a panel on experimental approaches to argumentation (with Jennifer Schumann) and gave a talk on the conceptual/procedural meaning distinction in multimodal argumentation (with Ramy Younis).
