Milestone 2 is where the team created several screening matrices to weigh the different designs against each other. Additionally, the team generated potential tasks the rover may be able to complete on the moon. Using this, the undulating fin design was chosen and the team created its initial system, mechanical, and software designs.
Milestone 2.5 is the final presentation for the semester where the team demonstrate the Alpha prototype. This presentation demonstrated the unique cam designs and the drivetrain. Additionally, the team showed how it will test different fin materials and the cam as a proof-of-concept. Finally, some analysis was done to get an idea of the velocity and mass of the Alpha prototype.
The team sent its project proposal to NASA in January. In it, the project description was written, NASA's constraints were addressed, a detailed outline of testing was given, and the budget was finalized.
The team earned a $2,000 sponsorship from L3Harris at the midpoint of their project and went on to win their Senior Capstone Mentorship Program.
The team presented their project at the 2022 Stevens Senior Innovations Expo with this poster and a working prototype display.
Milestone 5 is a culmination of all of the work Team BIFROST accomplished during their Senior Design course at Stevens Institute of Technology.
