2-Ethylhexyl acrylate is an acrylate monomer that is useful in the industrial production of polymers, epoxys, paints, adhesives, and coatings. The reactor I created is designed to product 20,000 tons of 2-EHA annually. After designing the process, I performed an in depth economic analysis on the project, including the fixed capital investment, operating expenses, rate of returns, and overall net present value. I also performed a risk analysis on the NVP to see how likely it was to be profitable, and a sensitivity analysis on the operating expenses to determine which factors were affecting NPV the most.
