A former teacher was heading to Texas to speak at a conference and asked if I might print some swag for her. I found and printed some key chains. One was a shoe, the other looked like a NASA coin.
A second request with the question, "Can you build this?" She shared the images of a NASA training habitat that would act as a good visual to her audience. After some time of stewing, I dove in and started to recreate the HERA habitat. It took about 7 hours for me to learn some tricks and design it. After I was pleased with it, I broke the model into parts and spent over 100 hours printing all the pieces. I did have to make some reprints and adjustments along the way. After the pieces were printed, I painted, and assembled to create the final product.
She was thrilled by the final product. She stated that is was an amazing addition to the presentation. Her co-presenter was one of the training directors and stated the model would be put in the facility when the next crew switch was made.
